A barley wine with deep amber color. The brandy of ales, this beer has vintage character and will mature in the bottle at cellar temperature for years.

"10.2% abv. I was fortunate to find this at Vintage Cellar as this is one of the better barleywines I've had. Deep amber color, nice clarity, with a thin head. Thin patches and a foam ring sticks around to provide some spotty lacing. Sweet caramel malt flavor with generous doses of molasses and brown sugar. Faint traces of dark fruit and oak and the beer finishes a bit peppery but smooth. Hints of most of that is in the aroma which isn't over-powering but is quite complex. The alcohol is hidden remarkably well. A great drink. "

"A hazy dark abber with a short-lived tan head. Nose is sweet and alcoholic; brown sugar caramel with solid malt aromas around some deep, dark fruit. Smooth, full and deep palate. Rich, silky and thick. Taste is sweet with full, complex flavors of malt and an ever-blossoming bitter edge. Nice blend of flavors; sweet, sour, and bitter with a tart, warm finish. "A medium reddish brown beer, hazy, with a light brown frothy head. The aroma is sweet malt, peaches, and hops. The flavour is heavy on the citrusy hops, with some malty flavours in the foreground. A nice refreshing ale despite the high alcohol content."

"Was fortunate enough to have found this on draft at Sam Morgan's outside of Pittsburgh. Poured dark brown with a nice head. The smell is full of yeast and malts, with hints of fig, brown sugar, and raisins. The first sip will knock you over. Very complex and malty, with earthy and breadcrust undertones. I relate this to a nice scotch, as it is very complex with a powerful mouthfeel. Fantastic beer, one I hope to be able to find again. Cheers to Bells."

"An opaque brown brew full of yeast gobs, tan cap. Sweet coffee & cola aroma with a hint of licorice and plum. The robust flavor has both juxtaposition and harmonizing balance of sweet, sour, and bitter. Rich roasted coffee flavor, but a bit of dark fruit too. Sticky, thick, and chewy. I think I've been looking for a beer like this."
