The Belhaven brewery is Scotland's oldest surviving independent brewery, dating back to 1719. This classic 3.9% strength Scottish ale is a real old timer, having been brewed at Belhaven longer than any other beer. Its sweet ruby mix of malt and hops pampers and primes the palate, preparing you for a smooth creamy finish. It's a carefully crafted ale to make our nation swell with pride.

"Comes out of the bottle a nice translucent dark amber with a fairly thick whitish head. Aroma is fairly strong and malty with a fruity hint. Flavor is malty and refreshing, a good accompaniment to a meal. Texture is smooth and fairly fizzy, leaving behind a nice tingly finish."

"Pours a nice root beer brown, fairly long lasting creamy head, with moderate lacing. Lower on the alcohol scale so the "bigger" than standard bottle does not buzz you out. The flavor consists of nice hints of sweet, butter scotch. Good easy drink for the thirsty!"

"The aroma had hints of actual scotch while the flovor had smokey overtones. Widget worked very well to create a silky smooth pour. Deep amber color with thick white head. "

"A smooth, tasty beer. Has a medium-ligh brown, slight hazy appearance. Mostly caramel malts here, not too much hops. Reminds me sort of like Tilsburg Dutch Brown, but not as "brown" and a little lighter in feel. I've had a few Scottish Ales before this and found them quite bitter, but this one wasn't and seemed different from the rest. Refreshing, good for an early evening warm-up beer, or with a meal paired with chicken or fish."

"This beer pours a deep orange color with a good white head that leaves a good bit of lace. The aroma is of citrus fruits mostly oranges or tangerines. This beer is very carbonated with a fruity sweet flavor of peaches or apricots. A very good ale."
