Dancing Trout Ale is a German Wheat Ale, the filtered version of a true Bavarian Hefeweizen. In Bavaria this beer would be called a Kristall-Weizen (Crystal-Wheat) because of its clarity. Dancing Trout Ale is brewed with malted wheat, pale, carmel malt, and hopped with Cascade hops from Yakima, Washinton. Unlike its British and American counterparts, Dancing Trout Ale is brewed in the Bavarian tradition. You are enjoying a beer that has been aged a minimum of 28 days, versus 7-10 days for the average ale. Dancing Trout Ale is not too strong in alcohol (5.4% by volume) moderately hopped and light in color. Unlike many ales, Dancing Trout Ale is mild with no bitter aftertaste! We dedicate this latest addition to our Bayern familiy of quality German beers to helping preserve Montana's trout habitat, one beer at a time.

"Bottle:
Never have understood the reason for Kristalweizen...kind of a pointless genre...I have no frame of reference except North American filtered "wheat beer" that to judge this with and as a Kristal weizen I suppose this is acceptable...no off tastes, well made but just pointless...notes of toffee malts, overly filtered with no fruity esters or phenols, no hop balance.. a tad bland and thin with a sweet finish....not my cup of T"

"On draft at Flagstaff Brewing. Described as a filtered wheat, so I expected an American Wheat brew. Surprise, kristal-like aspects all over this thing (in a good way). Slightly hazy golden yellow color, weak head and lacing. The aroma was bananas, cloves. The flavor was much the same, not an impressive banana, though, some lemons and faint grass, yet ajll held up by a decent hop touch and clovey-spicey zing. Decent because I like the style, but mediocre w/in style."

"LABELED AS BIG SKY TROUT SLAYER. Poured a clear golden color with a decent head. Had a mild aroma, but presented a good flavor with a nice malt profile and a sufficient amount of hops."

"Pours a dark golden colour with a small thin off white malty head. Aroma is a bit malty, taste is relatively smooth, with a firm hop finish. Flavors of lemon, pear and green apples."

"Eh, nothing to write home about; one of many beers with a label more interesting than the beer itself. Pale yellow, slightly fizzy, thin mouthfeel, very little hops. I'm gratified to learn it's actually a krystalweizen even though it's fermented like an ale; for a second there I thought my palate had gone dumb. I'll pass on this one next time."
