Summertime is wheat beer time, and there's nothing better than Bayern's unfiltered Hefeweizen. This authentic Bavarian Hefeweizen ("hefe" means yeast), combines the wheat flavor with Bayern's own strain of yeast.
Bayern's Hefeweizen is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany). We use malted wheat, two-row Harringtion Pale and carmel malt. Hefeweizen, was invented in Bavaria and Bayern Brewing's Hefeweizen is one of the very few that is actually brewed as it is in Bavaria and by a Bavarian Brewmaster. So if you are interested in this style of beer, try this one first and see how the other ones compare to the original.

"Bottle – tasted as St. Wilburs Weizen.
The hefeweizen pours a light orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is wheat and grass, some hey and sweetness. A medium to light bodied hefe. Malts are grassy and grainy, with some banana and clove and spice flavors. Touch of orange. Hops are slightly citrusy. A touch sweet and fruity for a hefe. Mild carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

"This beer is bull. German brewer, authentic German style? Not like the ones I've had in Bavaria. In any event, the pour was weak, very little head and a rather dark carmel-like color (they got the cloudy / unfiltered part correct, whoopie). The aroma was wheaty (musty) and somewhat hoppy with a sweet caramel touch (why so much caramel in a wheat?). The flavor was highly disappointing. Too much of: grassy hop flavors, caramel malts, and an American Wheat style flavor. Totally missed the style. Where are my spices? Where are my bananas? Good grief. They got some citrus right. Some artificially sweetened lemon juice. Boooooooo (yes, I'm booing a beer!). Boooooooooooooo, again."
