Beer Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Hop Variety: Magnum, German Hallertau

OG: 1.100 Alcohol By Volume: 11.03% IBU's: 60
Color: Black
Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

"Sampled from bottle. Pours opaque blackened-brown with a hint of ruby. Thin head. Fig and plum dominate the aroma with some molasses notes as well. Semi-sweet and a little too fuity and hot. Some cocoa powder in the middle. Full-bodied and well-carbonated. Just too sweet for me to drink often."

"Pours black with small, tight head. Aroma is rich and roasty with vanilla topnotes. Muddled malt flavor disappoints; astringent alcohol taste in the finish. Thick, creamy mouthfeel with serious warming affect."

"From a bottle. Pours an opaque brown with a large, long-lasting tan head. Aroma is sweet and strong. Really impressive. Strong caramel and fruit notes. Flavor is sweet. Fruit, anise, and a small chocolate/coffee undertone. Overall a really great beer."

"Sampled bottle, RBNAG 2007 in Grimstad. ABV was 11.03%. Black colour. Sweetish and sickly aroma of molasses, malt syrup, ?, spices and tar. Intensely sweet and tarry flavour with a substantial bitterness. Overkill."

"I Loved It. I do agree that it was a tad too sweet but that being said it worked. The more I enjoyed to more I thought the sweetness was balanced with the bitterness. Pours Dark with a gorgeous tan head. Medium moutfeel. Let this beer breathe in a wide mouth glass for about 10 min. Then Enjoy IT!!!"
