Mephistopheles is the crafty shape shifter, the second fallen angel. Amazingly complex, coal black, velvety and liqueurish, this demon has a bouquet of vine-ripened grapes, anise and chocolate covered cherries with flavors of rum-soaked caramelized dark fruits and a double espresso finish. Mephistopheles is the final installment of "The Demons of Ale" series.

"Sampled from bottle, batch #3. Thick, sticky, black and alcoholic. That's about all I can add to Avery's apt description of this stout. I'd like to try a cellered version - at 16%, it ought to cellar well. Certainly not a daily drinker. Worth a try!"

"Pours black with oil-consistency. The head is creamy and impressively thick considering the beer's strength. The aroma boasts roasty coffee notes and a faint smoke character. The huge flavor is complexly malty with a sweet-hot finish. Full bodied with strong carbonation and probably the strongest warming affect I have observed in a beer. There's no way I could drink two-in-a-row."

"Black and then some more black. Almost no head. Way too sweet but still a very nice Imperial stout. I would of liked it a bit with more body and some more roasty tones. "

"A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is very sweet with primary notes of coffee, but also with light notes of vanilla and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet with a powerful presence of alcohol (no wonder), which burns the mouth slightly, the flavor also contains quite strong chocolate notes and lesser notes of wood, leading to a dry end. A very complex beer."

"I remember cracking this that merry night, pouring it, then sipping that first sip and knowing that i had run into something great!
Pours with a big beautiful brown lasting head.. ..lacing is all that!-coco head sticks.. ..Alcohol is very well masked for such a large abv.. ..quite sweet!....not much balanced when it comes to sweet/bitters but for a massive beer like this, it doesn't detract.. ..is very intense + delicous.. ..mouthfeel is amazing. ..sometimes you have to spoil yourself-..spoil yourself-..spoil yourself......."
