Boont ESB (formerly Belk's ESB): The abundant hopping in this four-time gold medal winner, creates arousing aromatics, accompanied by a pleasantly bitter bite. Boont Extra Special Beer is deep gold in color, with a spicy hop aroma. Starts with a big, malty backbone and finishes with a refreshingly bitter bite. Boont Extra Specila Beer is excellent alone or as an accompaniment to your favorite well-seasoned meals (such as Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Indian, or Thai, cuisine).

"Those who know me know I think Anderson Valley products are the cat's meow! I was turned onto them a year ago when I picked up a single of their Winter Solstice on a whim. I was sold and started to go through and try the rest of their products. I've yet to find one that I didn't absolutely love. This ESB falls in line with the rest of their products in being great.
When I poured this one into my pint glass I was a little nervous. The beer had a hazy orangy-amber color to it with very little head. That was a little on the uncharacteristic side, but I didn't judge it until I got to the sticking my nose into the glass. The aroma is all over the place and great. Where do I start? As with the theme that Anderson Valley has with their products, you pick right up on those sweet caramel malts that they use. Blended in there though was some light hoppiness and then the kicker....a grapefruit aroma. Rock solid! Time to do some drinking...
Now this Anderson Valley ESB isn't the same style of ESB that you'd find with an Old Thumper or Rogues Brutal Bitter. It's more of a subtle bitterness. Now the tough part is, do you rate this compared to other ESBs or do you rate this based on the quality of product? I'm marching ahead based on the quality of the product.
Ok so what we have here is a very smooth drinking beverage with some fairly complex flavors mixed in there. As with most Anderson Valley products that I've had the base is the malts. They use some tremendous malts that are rich, roasted and caramely. This one had some great fruity, spiced and hoppy notes tossed in there to balance it out. Is it bitter? Not really, but there is a dry back end to the beer that tastes great.
Long review, but bottom line, this guy is great, not as an ESB, but as a finely crafted brew. Love me some Anderson Valley!"

"I am pretty sure this is another case where I got an old or bad bottle. I was not impressed and was excited to drink it. It turned out to be a total let down. It smelled of armpits right out of the bottle and tasted like it(not that i would know)."

"My bottle still has the old Belk's name on it. I dont the aging harmed it in anyway, its still delicious.
Pours a hazy golden amber color. Nice thick head with lots of lacing. Aroma of malts and spicy hops. Mouthfeel was medium and creamy smooth. Tastes of sweet malts and spicy, floral hoppiness. A little yeast flavor there and a little bitter finish. "

"Once in a while I am able to stumble across a beer from Anderson Valley, I only wish it were more frequent since they make some killer beers. Sweet toasted malt aroma with some powerful floral hops. Dark hazy copper pour with a thick off white head and huge spots of lacing. Full thick malt body, pleasantly bitter with a complimenting sweetness. So good and filling in a smooth creamy way, top notch. Tangy sweet caramel malt jumps out in the flavor with notes of fresh bread and doughy biscuits. Flavorful hops, mildly bitter and very balancing. Citrus and mild evergreen hop tastes as well. Unique and grand, this is great."

"Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a deep brown color ale with a big nice foamy head with good retention. Aroma of PNW hops is well balance with caramel malt. Taste is a well balance mix between some caramel malt with light toffee and some great hops presence with provide mild bitterness and a great floral aspect to this beer. Great carbonation with a full body which really fit the style. I really like and enjoy the balance in the beers from this brewery."
