Allagash Fluxus is so named because it is the first beer brewed in our new brewery. Fluxus marks the change and growth of Allagash Brewing Company, and our passage from the corner of our original building to a new, state of the art brewery. Brewed with Belgian Pilsner Malt and 25% Rye malt, the beer is full-bodied with a spicy, herbal taste. A floral note arises with the addition of Yarrow, which is a flowering plant that was historically used as an alternative to hops. The 10% abv beer is hopped with Warrior and Brewers Gold which impart a subtle bitterness. Finally Fluxus, like all our beers, undergoes a second fermentation, the methode champenoise, by which we naturally carbonate our beer in the bottle.
As part of our Tribute Series, Allagash is donating $1 from each bottle of Fluxus sold to the Allagash Pediatric Scholarship at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. The scholarship will directly support the training of a nurse, whether it be undergraduate, graduate or certification in the field of pediatric nursing. We are proud to donate to the nurses at MMC, who do an outstanding job.

"Pour was hazy orangey amber in color, decent initial typical Allagash type head and good Belgian rings of lacing. Retention good. The aroma was spicey (ginger most prominent), floral, even perfumey diaper-like, yeasty. The flavor followed suite, grapes mixed in under all that, herbal notes too. I was a bit disappointed by this thing, the gingery notes taking a stronger turn with temps rising (I'm so sensitive to ginger elements in my beer, although I'm not positive this thing had ginger in it). Mouthfeel was typical, somewhat airy, but the alcohol was way hot, not hidden. Certainly a drinkable beer, but far from solid, should be put away for a bit and then opened."

"first beer of the day with my boy stumac and company ... this beer pours with quite a spice portfolio... is the colour of a old gold coin with a slight haze to it .... some nice flavours, i pick up honey ... an enjoyable brew, summer-ish but still full... nice stuff and a perfect opener ..."

"Yet another Allagash product I just picked up. Aroma on this brew is seltzer-like with champagne nuiancs as wel as some funky Belgian yeast with subtle spice overtones and dryness. Appearance is a hazy, golden-orange in color when held to the light with a full head on top that is well-carbonated and a bleach-white in color and hardly diminishes but laces the glass nicely. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with tons of Belgian complexity as well as delicate balance with a palate that is dry-like and a tad over-carbonated. Flavor is of spices with interesting yarrow overtones as well as some Belgian malt with some sweetness and an aftertaste that is clean and creamy with yeasty notes and a finish that is sharp and smooth with not one hint of any alcohol coming through and I think I am detecting some brett or "off" flavor that adds another complex layer of farmhouse funk coming through. Overall, and very fine ale here for sure and is extremely delicate and pleasant and very smooth and would pare well with exquisite cuisine; recommended brew here for sure!!! "

"Bottle courtesy of Unclemattie: Poured a deep orangey/beige color ale with a large foamy head with great retention and some lacing. Aroma comprised a spicy yeast note with some spices mix and deep Belgian malt. Taste consisted in full Belgian malt with some sweet notes which were well balance with spicy yeast notes and some nice spices mix. Full body with some great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very good overall but there seams to be lacking something in here."
