AleSmith's award-winning Wee Heavy is a dark, smooth ale in the classic Scotish style (full-bodied, rich and malty). Sweet, slightly smoky flavors and a light dose of the freshest hops combine to make a tantalizing brew that just keeps getting better with age.
Over time, given proper storage conditions, many of the sweet and malty flavors will blend and mellow, leaving a trace of smokiness and a drier finish.
Of course, it's deliciously drinkable right now and you won't want to wait to taste it, so buy some for now and some to be put aside for later. You'll be amazed at the way the flavors mature, and you'll wish you had more.

"is everything they make near the top of the lists, or does it just seem that way? one of the best, if not THE best, scotch ale. can't do much to improve it with the limitations of the style. Heavy, smoky peat malt flavor and feel. great beer!"

"Damn it man this is a grand version of Scottish ale! What can I add other then a great one for a cold day around the fire with the terriers. Only draw back is the price. They are certainly proud of this fellow. Nice but to much $ for too little brew. I'll save my dollars and head of to Edinburgh for the real deal. "

"Pours deep brown, nearly opaque with impressive head given the beer's strength. The aroma seemed light so I waited a while for it to warm and resniffed, but, to me, it is still a weakness in the overall profile. The flavor, on the other hand, is rich and delicious, leaving little to be desired. Intense maltiness highlighted by dark, ripe fruit, wood and molasses. Full bodied and warming. Thanks to eaglefan for personally importing this beauty to Oklahoma for our enjoyment. It was enjoyed."

"Sampled from magnum bottle, a most generous gift from eaglefan538. Pours opaque mahogany with a sudsy tan head. Its aroma is derived from the malts as expected. This scotch ale has unique cocoa notes too. Subtle and pleasant. The flavor is the best of any scotch ale I've had: cocoa, treacle, coffee and dark fruit. No one flavor overpowering the other. Quite balanced and dry - I can't imagine a better hopping schedule for the style. Mocha lingers in the finish. The mouthfeel/drinkability is exceptional. Full bodied, warming, but with no hot alcohols, and carbonated enough to make you want to tip your glass a little higher than you might have otherwise anticipated considering its high abv. I'm a fan of the style, and this is best. Thanks again, eagle."

"Another beer at my sisters 50th birthday celebration, and man this is just a great beer. Aroma is slightly smoky but any more of it would not have been good. Whiskey, chocolate, roasted chesnuts, and malt very prominent in the nose too. Appearance was dark, but clear with hints of brown. Mouthfeel was full bodied and sticky. Flavor was much the same as the aroma but there was an earthyness present that was interesting. I can see how this is one of the top rated scotch ale's around. AleSmith does it up nice on this one."
