A cross between a belgian wit and a pale ale..in essence, a toned-down Horny Devil.

"Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of coriander, citrus fruits, spices, melons, and light yeast. Taste was dry and yeasty, citrus fruits, and more spices, with medium carbonation."

"I was happy to see that The San Diego Brewing Company has been working on getting more cutting-edge beers on-tap as of late -- notably Barleywines, and Belgian-style beers such as this tasty offering from Alesmith. I remember enjoying this fresh off the tap at the Alesmith brewery two months ago (for my Bachelor Party Pubcrawl), and was equally pleased with the pint of this last night at the SDBC.
Reddish-golden in appearence, without much in the way of any head. SDBC has generally very clean taps and glassware, so perhaps it's the beer's fault that this doesn't look all that thrilling?
However, things quickly take a turn for the better once you get this up in your face -- specically, to take a whiff of the aroma, and to take your first sip. Spicy, fruity, a little malty -- all quite interesting, and altogether refreshing. Soft and approachable mouthfeel, and overall excellent drinkability.
Like my buds mentioned to me, this seems to have more in common with a Tripel than a Belgian Pale Ale -- a Tripel with a few extra pounds in the middle, so to speak, but definately Tripel-ish. A nice beer to start off a drinking session, since I think that the nuances in the flavor profile might get blown away if you had this later on in the evening. Something I would love to see join the ranks of Alesmith's standard 22-oz bottled offerings...

"Light orange color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and citrusy, spicy and yeasty. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. Fruity and sweet, orange and coriander. Bright yeasts. Light and refreshing. Nice malts are hiding in the background of this one. A very nice fruity and dry finish. This beer is understated when compared to some of the rest of the Alesmith line, but it stand up very well on its own. Mouthfeel is full nad round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet"

"A very impressive brew from a very impressive brewery. A good creamy head, moderate hoppy flavor. Lacks the power of the rest of the alesmith brews, but is still damn good."
