It is brewed with British pale and crystal malts, Liberty hops and an ale yeast imported from Ireland. This ale has a rich ruby color, lacy collar, pronounced caramel flavor and is a tad "hoppier" than our other brews.

"Aroma is fruity and sweet with hints of cottn candy and caramel coming through as well as some maltiness and slight hops. Apearance is a cloudy amber red in color when held to the light with a frothy and light-tan head on top that is creamy and leaves tamed lacing on the glass. Mouthfeel is light to medium in body with nice esters of fruit as well as chewy malt with a palate that is smooth and coating. Flavor is malty, chewy, sweet, caramelly, as well as fruity with an aftertaste that is creamy and malty with slight hop overtones that are delicate and has a finish that is clean, wet, and filling. Overall, nice brew for sure and a good red ale in my opinion."

"Had a pint of this on a quiet rainy Saturday afternoon at the brewpub.
While I normally shy away from many so-called Red Ales (due to the fact that they often come across too damn sweet and cloying for my palate), I had faith in Abita to treat me right with this one. And my faith was not misplaced. This was very fine beer, that I found to be rather easy drinking and fairly sessionable.
A bit on the brown side of Red, which was fine by me. Looked decent enough, and the aroma was also satisfactory -- hoppy, but not overwelmingly so. Good fit for the style.
Nice in the mouthfeel. Malty and a bit chewy, with the malt backbone making sure to take the bull by the horns with this one. Enough backend bitterness to balance things out, but there's no mistaking the relatively complex and well-thought-out malt profile here.
Pretty easy drinking, all told, though I did find myself kinda getting tired of this near the end of the pint, to be honest. A full six-pack of this would not be unwelcome in my hotel `fridge, though I think I still prefer my ol Abita stand-by, the Amber to this one.
But this was still more impressive than I would have guessed from the style description. Another hard-working beer from the good folks at Abita. Recommended.
