Like bread in a glass, our Trippel is a sweet, yeasty ale of Belgian descent. Still brewed today by Trappist monks, our recipe follows theirs perfectly to its golden, delicious conclusion. Served in a tulip glass, you’ll find it a wonderful sipping beer. It’s unfiltered, and some grapefruit, clove and banana notes may be present. West Mall Trippel was judged the FIRST PLACE WINNER in the Belgian Class during the 2004 GEORGIA CRAFT BREW CHALLENGE.

"Pours a rich, nearly opaque dark honey golden with a thick, yellowish off-white head. Strong aroma is sweet and malty and has hints of honey, caramel and banana. Mouth-filling flavor is very smooth with a fruity overtone, hoppy undertone, and hints of caramel plus some sweetness and hop bitterness. Texture and finish are smooth and very satisfying."

"Cloudy orangey gold body with a nice, but smallish, soupy, white head. The aroma has tons of esters. It could almost pass for a pale weizenbock except it’s got a bit of that Belgian strong ale funky spice backing it up. The flavor turns slightly peppery as it warms, although I don’t know if it’s from hops, alcohol or a mixture of both. Malty flavor, but not heavy, although the body is substantial. You really need to let this one warm up."
