This is a classic Southern German dark lager beer (known as a Dunkel or Dunkelesbier). It has a pronounced malty aroma and flavor that dominates over a clean, crisp, moderate hop bitterness. We brew our Dunkel with three different European hops (Czech Saaz, Hallertau and Tettnang) to give it a complex blend of hop aromas and flavors that balance a delicate roasted caramel aftertaste. It is slightly dry but smooth, without the excessive sweetness or heaviness found in many dark beers
